Pupil Premium Funding

What is Pupil Premium?

Pupil Premium is additional funding provided by the government to primary schools in the United Kingdom. This funding is designed to help schools support and raise the achievement levels of pupils who may be disadvantaged due to various factors, such as low family income or being in care. The goal is to close the attainment gap and ensure that every child has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

How is Pupil Premium Funding Calculated?

The amount of Pupil Premium funding a school receives is based on the number of pupils eligible for free school meals, children who have been in local authority care (looked after children), and pupils from families with parents in the armed forces. The school's allocation is calculated annually.

How is Pupil Premium Funding Used?

At our primary school, we are committed to using Pupil Premium funding effectively to provide targeted support and interventions for eligible pupils. Examples of how we use this funding include:

  1. Quality Teaching: We invest in high-quality teaching and learning experiences to benefit all pupils, ensuring that teaching strategies are tailored to meet the individual needs of disadvantaged children.

  2. Additional Support: We provide additional support, such as one-to-one or small-group tutoring, to help close learning gaps and accelerate progress for eligible pupils.

  3. Enrichment Activities: Pupil Premium funds are also used to provide enrichment activities and experiences that enhance pupils' personal and social development.

  4. Resources: We allocate resources to purchase educational materials, books, and equipment to support disadvantaged pupils in their learning journey.

  5. Parental Engagement: We actively engage with parents and carers of eligible pupils to ensure they are aware of the support available and encourage their involvement in their child's education.

Accountability and Reporting

We are committed to transparency and accountability in the use of Pupil Premium funding. We regularly evaluate the impact of our interventions and report on the outcomes achieved by eligible pupils.
